Sarasota Diaries:  December 1-8, 2006

Wed Dec 13, 2006 at 01:56:21 PM PDT

The State of Florida put on what might have looked to untrained eyes to be an audit—but we election integrity activists knew, without doubt, it was nothing more than a charade.

Before I begin to describe the "audit," there is something that needs to be made clear.  During the audit, members of Voter Action and lead attorney Lowell Finley, were repeatedly asked by media and others if they were "with the Jennings camp."  It became quite obvious that even the media here in our own state isn’t aware that there are two distinctly different legal actions with regard to Sarasota and its botched election.

Although the judge consolidated these two cases as a matter of efficiency -- for the simple reason that much of the evidence will overlap --   the separate nature of the lawsuits shouldn’t be misunderstood.  It's useful too, to know just who is doing the heavy lifting. More below...

Sarasota Diaries:  November 29, 2006

From the diaries.  It should be noted that yesterday's audit was conducted on spare machines--that is, not on any machines that are actually said to have malfunctioned during the election.  Machines that were actually used in the election will be tested on Friday. -- georgia10

Before I tell you about my adventures in Sarasota, I must begin by saying that there is something completely astounding about the election integrity activist community across this nation.  I am honored and privileged to have met and corresponded with dozens and dozens of them and can say from personal experience that they are almost without exception, the most tenacious, the most generous, and the most unbelievably dedicated and driven people I have ever met.  They are also off-the-charts smart and inspirational and I am truly humbled to be counted among their number.  We have become family in the deepest sense of the word because we have delved deep into the darkest realities of what exactly is at stake if we continue on the current path and methodology of electronic voting adopted by so many jurisdictions across the country.

With all that now said, here we go.

Voter Verified Paper Ballots in EVERY state

Wed Nov 09, 2005 at 11:04:21 PM PDT

Why has no national organization stepped up to support efforts to mandate voter verified paper ballots?  Maybe it's because we aren't pushing them to.  Urge MoveOn to put this urgent issue at the top of their agenda... unless, of course, you prefer to lose again in 2006.
